About Us
This site was inspired by and is dedicated to the people of Iran. Witnessing Iranians of all ages and backgrounds risk life and limb to achieve freedom – and to do so in the face of repeated, brutal crackdowns by the regime – we, like hundreds of thousands of other Iranian-Americans, felt the need to do something to help.
After attending demonstrations, publishing articles, etc., we thought we needed to do more. Thus, we created Iran News Digest: a not for profit website to filter and centralize the best articles and videos on Iran’s Green democratic movement from the world’s leading public-ations, think tanks and blogs. Our goal is to provide a high quality, comprehensive site for everything Green. As we grow our audience, we plan to offer new functions within our website in order for Green organizations across the world to communicate and organize.
Although what we are doing certainly pales in comparison to the sacrifices that the Iranian people have made and are making every day, we hope this site will help in its own very limited way. We believe no person can do everything but everyone can do something! If we put our apathy aside, the combination of our small steps, once organized, will generate a tidal wave of freedom that the most oppressive of regimes could not resist.
However, having said that, we are not promoting any individual, political group, ideology or form of government in Iran. All we are advocating is that the Iranian people’s universal human right to peacefully demonstrate, without fearing brutal repercussions, not be violated. Stop the violence against the people of Iran!
We believe once the brave, resourceful Iranian people are able to peacefully demonstrate without fear of getting killed, beaten, tortured or imprisoned, they will achieve free press, free elections and a government of their own choosing – a government which will respect their human rights. We are not concerned with the end (what form of government); we are focused on means through which a government is selected and exercises its power.

We would like to end with a plea to Iran’s revolutionary guards.
Dear revolutionary guards & security forces of Iran:
For those of you that monitor websites abroad, we want you to know that we believe the vast majority of you are good and honorable people. We urge you, you who have fought for Iran, who have shed blood for Iran and who love Iran to NOT turn against the people of Iran now. Despite the brutality unleashed upon them by some members of the security forces, the noble and peace loving people of Iran, for the most part, have treated those security agents captured during the demonstrations with kindness and compassion.
All the Iranian people want is freedom and to be treated with respect. They are too smart to be fooled by foreign governments. With their calls of Allah-o-Akbar and “Ya, Hussein,” the people are following the path of Imam Hussein who bravely stood against overwhelming forces in the name of justice and freedom. He could have sided with the tyrants or at the very least remained silent and become rich and powerful but he chose the side of justice, honor and the people.
Which side do you think Imam Hussein, who martyred himself for the people, would take today: the side of the people with their peaceful calls for justice, or the forces of cruelty who target innocent women like Neda? Today all the Iranian cities have become Karbala!
Don’t be fooled by those who are unjust and falsely pose as Imam Hussein’s followers and evoke his blessed memory for their own self-serving interests. He would never have used violence or been cruel to the people. Now you must not be violent or cruel to the Iranian people in their nonviolent struggle for justice and freedom!
