A group of 200 workers from Shiraz ITI are headed to the Industries and Minerals Ministry in Tehran to file their complaints with officials.  ITI workers have not received their wages for the last 13 months and they have staged several successive strikes in Shiraz including one at the Governor’s mansion. Despite escalating sit-ins and strikes workers continue to go unpaid – a grievance they are now taking to the capital.

ITI employs 700 workers in Shiraz Iran Telecommunications Industries and the workers have been in numerous public protests, including an Ahmadinejad rally last December. The workers staged sit-ins and demonstrations throughout this last week in Shiraz.

Five of the workers’ representatives met with the Minerals and Industries ministry officials today while the rest spent the night at the tomb of Ayatalloh Khomeini next to Behesht Zahra cemetery in south of Tehran.   The workers have indicated that all 200 will set out to visit the officials if the representatives’ talks do not yield any results.  The workers have raised funds for the trip through charities.
