March with the Green Scroll across the Brooklyn Bridge – (Sept 24, 2009)

Saeed Hajarian (Reformist ideologue http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saeed_Hajjarian ) in a TV “interview” (while he is still in custody, even after “confessing” in show trials in behalf of Max Weber) : “The released hate after t he election is very unique in the history of the Iranian civilisation both before and after Islam. This shows a shift of the regime’s ideology towards a trite kind of Marxism”.

Ahmadinejad in an interview with NPR when asked about the many democracy protesters, who remain jailed after Iranian security forces violently broke up demonstrations following the country’s election in June, insisted that Iranians were free to criticize their government.”In Iran, no one is in prison because of opposing Ahmadinejad,” he said. “In Iran, there is freedom and people can speak their minds.” In response to the remarks by Khatami regarding the show trial that said the “confessions” were obtained under what he called “extraordinary conditions” he added “That is Mr. Khatami’s opinion. But the judicial system is an independent body, and they, I’m sure, have convincing answers to give for the measures that they take. If it were the case really the way Mr. Khatami described, then he, too, should have been in prison, but then why is he not in prison?” Thousands of people were detained by Iranian security forces in the wake of the dramatic June protests, in which dozens of protesters were also killed. Many of the jailed demonstrators were released, with officials saying that fewer than 200 remain in custody. Ayatollah Taheri-Esfahani, former member of the Assembly of Experts, in an open letter to Grand Ayatollah Montazeri while praising him for his br avery, courage and wise opinions regarding the events occurred after the election, emphasised on the necessity for guidance and the reform of the repressive behaviour of the authorities (coup government); and expressed deep concern about the diversion of the ruling powers of the country from revolution’s ideas and path.

Grand Ayatollah Dastgheyb, member of the Assembly of Experts, in the recent session of the Assembly ann ounced that reviewing the cases of violation from constitution is one of the responsibilities of this Assembly and while criticizing Assembly’s performance warned that the constitution is being ignored in the country. He also condemned the recent baseless attacks and false accusations made against reformist figures especially in the state-run TV. He added that the members of “Hojatieh” (Mesbah-Yazdi’s ideology) are easily defying the law these days. He asked who is responsible for all the crimes and illegal activities that happened after the election and how could the justice seeking voice of the nation be answered with force? At the end he suggested that an opportunity would be available for Mousavi, Karoubi and Khatami so that they could explain their views either in the Assembly or on state-run TV.

A historical mistake by the Assembly of Experts: Perhaps the absence of Ayatollah Hashemi-Rafsanjani, Head of the Assembly of Experts, during the announcement of the final statement of the Assembly is the sign of dispute over the content of the state ment but this does not change the outcome. The statement was issued in hurry and on the second day of the session instead of the third day; while it did not contain anything even close to Ayatollah Hashemi’s promises which he made during the opening of the session saying that the senior figures of the country are preparing a statement that would be a resolution to solve the current crisis in the country. The Assembly of Experts by issuing a statement similar to its previous ones has closed its eyes on the reality and showed that is not capable to fulfill its duty and save the country from the current critical situation.
